About Val Harrison, NC, Founder

The inspiration for Green Tree Nutrition began in 2006 when I was challenged with my own health issues, many of which had begun in childhood. Over the years, I had tried traditional treatments without the results I was looking for and continued to experience digestive issues, UTIs, asthma, skin rashes,

insomnia, migraines, depression and anxiety. I embarked on a mission to research holistic healing modalities and possible causes for the health issues I experienced. I discovered I had an imbalanced gut microbiome which led to a leaky gut, inflammation and food sensitivities & intolerances.  It was at that point that I realized that many of my health problems were directly connected to what I was putting in my body. I found nutrition and supplementation specific to my physiology began to alleviate many of my challenging symptoms and health issues by addressing the root causes.

In 2013, I began studying nutrition at Bauman College with the dream of helping others achieve their health goals. During that time, I continued optimizing my nutrition along with reducing stress via meditation, yoga, and tapping (EFT); incorporating exercise appropriate for my body and achieving restorative sleep. I felt balanced, energized and focused.

I went through menopause in 2024 and had noticeable changes to my body, sleep patterns, energy level, concentration and mood along with a resurgence of ADHD symptoms. This led me to reassess not only my nutrition, but also my exercise plan, sleep routine and supplement protocol. Even though it took a little time, making adjustments to these areas helped me feel like myself again.

Today, I continue to be curious about my body’s messages and make necessary changes to regain balance; good physical and mental health are an ongoing journey.

I’m enjoying a healthier more active life with my daughter and husband because I was able to regain my health. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others achieve better health through nutrition. I hope I get the honor of helping you achieve your nutrition and health goals so you can fully enjoy what’s important to you too.

I graduated with honors from Bauman College in March of 2015. I practice in Oakland, but virtually help women all over California.
